ReceiptGate #006: Only The Row could make black pants a status symbol.
Ungatekeeping with tastemaker duo Anna Porte and Laura Pleitéz Rifkin
Happy long weekend and welcome back to Receiptgate, where we dare it-girls (who also happen to be Selleb app superusers) to ungatekeep their tried and true favorites, deinfluence us on crowd pleasers that shouldn’t be, etc... Today’s edition will be longer than the last (more intel!) as we have since extended our line of questioning to airport outfits (very important), shopping hacks, media diets (specifics are key), worthy splurges, and LOTS MORE.
Worthy of our curiosity this week: Anna Porte is a Montreal-based creator whose style turns heads. And one of the micro-influencers from whom Anna enjoys consuming the most? Laura Pleitéz Rifkin. In today’s edition, we invite you to sip from both wells. Disclaimer: The water might be from The Row. iykyk lol. (The Galas also make a cameo too ofc, surprise surprise.) But the intelligence here isn’t just what they buy, or that you’ve never heard of it, but how they think about acquisition at all, the exacting curation that reads as effortless, the way they’ve turned consumption into something that looks like restraint.
Still can’t get enough? Follow Anna and Laura on Selleb to see all their receipts (read: purchase histories) in full.

Can you ungatekeep…
Your signature fragrance?
Anna: I tend to switch it up every so often, but most recently I’ve been wearing Ganymede by Marc-Antoine Barrois. It’s warm but also fresh and salty—I love it.
Laura: Unnamed by Byredo became my signature scent in 2019. It’s unbranded and complex to describe, which makes it feel like a blank slate for whatever mood I’m in. The scent was limited edition—I still have a bottle that I use sparingly, for the rare moments that feel worth naming. For nighttime, I reach for Promise by Frédéric Malle. It’s my other side showing up after dark. I’m a Gemini, if that explains anything. I love a concentrated oil as my scent for every day.
Your holy grail skincare products?
Anna: I actually just started a new skincare routine and I’m still in the trial phase, so it’s too soon to say for sure. The two products I haven’t changed, though, are the Susanne Kaufmann Rejuvenating Eye Cream and Le Prunier Plumscreen SPF—both, in my opinion, unbeatable in their respective categories.
Laura: Santa Maria Novella Acqua Di Rose, Le Prunier Plumscreen, Bioderma Micellar water, Egyptian Magic, Living Libations Best Skin Ever.
Airport outfit?
Anna: Pretty much always the same formula: a black or white t-shirt and a pair of Black Gala Pants (an elasticated, wide-leg, bias-cut pant—comfy!). I’ll layer on a sweater or a jacket or coat (sometimes both), add a sneaker or ballet flats, and I’m good to go.
Laura: A cotton long sleeve tee, buttery loafers, Comme Si socks, comfortable pants, a light crewneck cashmere sweater, oversized bag with a cashmere throw inside, and a cool baseball hat.
Favorite hotel?
Anna: So many amazing hotels, it’s hard to choose just one, but years ago my husband and I took our first trip together as a couple to Portugal and stayed at São Lourenço do Barrocal in Monsaraz. It was really special. I still think about it often and would love to go back.
Laura: Chateau Marmont
The newsletter (or pod) you actually open every day?
Anna:
has a great newsletter called . It’s unfussy, never overly swayed by trends, and I admire how true she’s stayed to her personal style over the years.Laura: Every time
drops her newsletter I run over to read it. She’s such a lovely human who happens to have great style. I love supporting her. I also love to read by , and more recently .
