What I Actually Bought #026
eBay ornament hacks, Tesla Cyberquad for kids, and peek into a MSCHF haul
Xmas is in 5 days…yay/yikes! Parents finally got a tree this week (our dad is usually on it with the tree trimmed and twinkling a day after Thxgiving so idk what’s going on). Oddly, they were even more relaxed about finding the holiday accoutrements in storage. It was a partridge in a bare tree situation until Chloe panicked and sprint-procured a swanky red velvet tree skirt and a handful of festive Cody Foster ornaments on eBay. Cheat day season is upon us anyway, so these ornaments felt apropos.
Ok, you know the drill - OUR finds, YOUR finds, and the BEST DEALS — honest reviews backed by receipts. Here we go…
What I Actually Bought
Cody Foster Ornaments: Amid parental holiday indifference, Chloe saw an opportunity to update the family’s ‘heirloom’ Xmas tree ornament collection (aka DIY ornaments that we made in pre-school). Let’s just say that Chloe took a detour from nostalgia with Cody Foster’s ornate glass ornaments this year. They have everything under the sun from Flaming Hot Cheetos to Dalí but come at a steep cost of ~$20 PER ornament. 5 of these ornaments alone will set you back $100. Well, Chloe befriended this eBay seller and negotiated 18 ornaments for….wait for it… $95!
Red Velvet Tree Skirt from eBay (love the ones here and here too): Amazon is obviously the easy source to turn to for something like this, but all the options looked so cheap-y and overpriced. So the next best option? eBay. Had to pay up for rush shipping but still came out ahead.
Pink Bogner Ski Jacket from eBay (similar here and here): We’re not seasoned skiers by any stretch of the imagination and by that definition, we should not go out of our way to buy ski-specific outerwear. And yet… Claire bought this for her bunny hill runs this winter. *Sigh* Given her ‘babe-on-a-budget’ student status, she better get some extra mileage on the streets of NYC, DC, and Chicago this winter. Chloe will make sure of this…
Merino Wool Base Layer Set: Comes with socks too. Will report back and let you know. We’ll have plenty of opportunities to wear this in the Arctic temps ahead…
Iced Alphabet Crystal Pendant from Vlessi: Originally $60 each but now on sale with a huge promotion. We got $60 for 3. Shoutout to our friend and community member Ilona for this rec!
What YOU Actually Bought
@melaniemasarin (founder of Ghia and writer of
) / Pink Prada Miniskirt (similar here and here): Reselling for $1K+ — it’s also a rare color you can’t really find online anymore. This is HOT.@rus (Founder of Vine and HQ Trivia) / Tesla Cyberquad: You know your dad is a tech bro when… cool dad, lucky kid.
@thisoutfitdoesnotexist (founder of Draup) / MSCHF haul: No injuries required to step into these shoes’ irony. Are you a fashion or fashionable victim?
@cortnebonilla (Freelance Fashion Writer (Vogue, Bazaar, Elle, and more)) / Totême Asymmetric Ballet Flats: Looking ever-so sharp.
@brooksreitz (restauranteur, founder of Jack Rudy Cocktail Co.,writer of
) / Houseman Fruitcake: Writer of one of our favorite newsletters. We love his brand Jack Rudy, which we mentioned in our gift guide last week. “I bought this same one last year from one of my favorite slept on NYC restaurants, Houseman.” What a coincidence because we used to live a block away from Houseman and frequented this resto regularly <3
If you want to share your awesome purchase(s) and have a chance to be featured in our future newsletters, pls forward your emailed order confirmation(s) to sisters@selleb.com! Feel free to add a one-sentence review. As always, we’ll check in with you to coordinate details before we post.
