What I Actually Bought #065
Artisanal chocolate shrooms, Issey Miyake straight from the runway, and an actor's love for Hannah Montana
Selleb is a discovery app (currently in beta) where you can snoop on what the coolest people on the internet are ACTUALLY (!) buying/loving/consuming — with receipts to prove it. Call it (rear) window shopping on steroids. If you’re subscribed to our newsletter, you’re also automatically on the waitlist for app access. We hit your inbox twice a week. The Sunday edition serves up anything from travel to fashion to skincare to restaurants. The Wednesday edition features 5 tastemakers sharing receipts of things they’ve recently bought and the juicy stories behind them. Past guests have included Serena Kerrigan, Willa Bennett of Highsnobiety, Throwing Fits, Junia Lin, tinyjewishgirl, sssssoupsssss, Susan Alexandra, Jason Diamond, ellapottersays, Gia Kuan, Jeremy Cohen, hellotefi, dadaeats, the creators of Industry, the founders of MSCHF, StockX, Vine, Siberia Hills, etc... (See full roster here) Do you have someone you’d like to see featured? DM or email us at sisters@selleb.com.
Greetings friends. Last Saturday, we hit up the much-hyped @normal.nyc’s fashion + furniture market in the iconic Barney’s flagship in Chelsea. Shoutout to our friend Max for the insider scoop on this vintage extravaganza, packed to the brim with veteran vendors from all corners of the globe!
It was a pure product discovery paradise, replete with objects of intrigue that, upon proper gaze and attention, suddenly morph into absolute must-haves, maybe even full-blown obsessions, the stuff you can’t live without, or in Selleb Sisters’ parlance — the incontrovertible, “hell yeah” essentials that demand residence in our shared archival wardrobe. Sneak peek below for the latest additions to our permanent collection 😝
Vintage porn, right??? Ok, now time for OUR finds, YOUR finds, and the BEST DEALS for the week. Let’s do this…
What I Actually Bought
Not-A-Normal Market: Had to pay for entry and access! No free lunch in life.
Forest Floor Mushroom Chocolate Bars: Maybe the most beautiful chocolate shrooms bars we’ve seen?? This is not your avg chocolate bar. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory… shrooms edition (although the whole movie did feel like a trip). Artisanal chocolate bars with psychedelic effects ;) Each square has 0.23g (15 squares in the whole bar). Alexander who helped Chloe said that you can DM to purchase bars over IG.
Issey Miyake from Woodcliff on the Hudson: Chloe made a new friend (hi Ruben)! His stall was obstructed from the main view, hidden in a small (but the darkest!) corner on the very bottom floor. We stumbled upon vintage Tiffany home decor, a stash of unbranded turquoise stone jewelry, and 2 full racks dedicated to 90s Issey Miyake. Pieces straight off the runway in pristine condition! Shapes, cuts, and silhouettes that Chloe’s never seen online or IRL. And get this: all priced way below market value!! As a die-hard Miyake fan, Chloe had to jump on this opportunity.
GABA & L-Theanine Chocolate: We get influenced/inspired by our own newsletter all the time lol. Claire saw @nickelcobalt of
rave about these last week and had toseetaste for herself… Bite-sized delights that satisfy without the guilt. Already feeling the same benefit.Leset dresses: We hoard their tees (this is what they’re known for), so why not give their dresses a shot too? Esp when they’re on sale… Simple but at once flattering + forgiving. Dress #1 was $100 from $200, and dress #2 was $160 from $420. Also found another random discount code to make our purchase even more worthwhile ;)
What YOU Actually Bought
christianweissmann (actor (Saved by the Bell, Dear White People) and writer (Her, Him & I) / Hannah Montana The Movie Vinyl: “Ordering this Hannah Montana vinyl was crucial to my well being this summer. Life feels deeply uncertain at times and the only constant in my life is my love for the Best Of Both Worlds.”
@savannah_engel (iconic PR queen, Founder/CEO SAVI @wearesavi) / Vibi Venezia Mary Jane Flats: “love my vibes! the perfect everyday shoe, all the girls wear it in the office and of course, it's our client!”
@chrissiemiller (creative consultant for brands like Warby Parker, beautiful Vogue Wedding spread) / FYY Pill Organizer: “I ordered this adorable little pill organizer. I love anything that helps me be more organized. I take meds and vitamins and they are all over my house, so I wanted to put them all together and something I can travel with. This little guy can fit way more than you would think! I had the larger one (which is also great) but I have been taking less vitamins since discovering AG1. So this one is perfect for me. Also you don't need to refill every week, it holds a month worth! Plus I can put Advil or other things that i take as needed.”
@sashita_bonita (writer and artist) / Metropolitan Opera Pavarotti Vintage Concert Tee (similar here here and here): “Vintage tees are my shopping weakness. My collection is heavy on the art-culture-nyc related tees and this one really takes the cake. My new prized possession from the year I was born. The coincidence is not lost on me!”
louisakirkduncan (creative consultant, writer at ) / Cooling Gel Eye Mask: “Attached is my last order, which is a cooling mask from Amazon for morning afters post short nights (which doesn't happen very often, but when when it does - we need this). Great thinking of mine, however, I then realised that I cannot see anything without holes in the front which is medium-ideal and which is why I have ordered another one, with holes. Apart from that - great thing to have, highly recommended.”
If you want to share your awesome purchase(s) and have a chance to be featured in our future newsletters, pls forward your emailed order confirmation(s) to sisters@selleb.com! Feel free to add a one-sentence review. As always, we’ll check in with you to coordinate details before we post.
