Sometimes all I think about is you, late night in the middle of June…
If you sang that instead of reading it, welcome home.
Either way, folks, we are here. A late night in the middle of June. Earlier this week, we kicked off summer with an intimate IRL Selleb gathering where we celebrated our App Store launch and had fun spicy convos around what everyone’s product discovery journeys actually look like, our favorite keywords on Depop, supersecret tricks on TRR, and why reverse image Google search is the best thing since sliced bread (though what’s even better is, well...a bit self-serving ;) It’s the Selleb app ofc! You can get access to way more content than what makes it into our Substack editions…Consider this your official invite to join us <3

A big THANK YOU to Dagne Dover, Violette, and Mikuna for collaborating with us as brand partners for this event!! <3
Now…let’s get to our main Wednesday feature: what WE actually bought, followed by what YOU actually bought.
What We Actually Bought
The Materialists: The latest cultural hot button right here. Rom-com of our generation? Modern-day When Harry Met Sally told in the language of class anxiety and Hinge trauma?? From the creators of Past Lives (This article moved us), Materialists hit a lot of cultural notes (nerves) on how our generation thinks about love and what we’re looking for. Hint: so many options, yet so much loneliness…
In short, the movie is about the universal struggle to find love in this world, when that world is a shitty marketplace where everyone’s selling but no one’s buying. Talk about a supply-demand curve distorted by hyper-individualized preferences, signaling theory, and a complete breakdown in reciprocal utility. Does anyone remember Claire’s viral TikTok vid from 2 summers ago? Yup, the one that got picked up by OverheardDating: “What your Hinge Height Says about you.” Turns out, not much has changed bc the 6ft+ obsession lives on, and the lengths (so to speak) men will go to meet it are now...surgical. Can someone confirm or deny the 6-inch extension?? Lmao.Louis Vuitton’s iconic Moonlight Boots (similar here and here): Not typically Claire’s style (some might say ugly cute) but she remembers this style from the LV runway years ago and…when the price is right…
Silvia Tcherassi Eines Belt: Still selling for full price on Silvia Tcherassi. Tightening our belts here…
Sara Cristina Nerea Crochet Top (still selling!) & Playa Pants (similar here and here): Our motto: Shop for the life you want. Maybe some strand of manifestation is at play here. That’s why we have so many (unworn) evening dresses that are finally seeing the light of day!! It works!!! Wait guys also this price, c’mon…
Maki Kosaka: Nondescript Japanese joint in Flatiron that’s so DL that we passed the restaurant (twice) and didn’t realize we did. Get the handrolls (you DIY it and grab with a slab of seaweed), you won’t regret it. Got 5 of them + a few apps between 4 ppl. Well-priced for what you get and a very quiet space.
And now, your turn!
What You Actually Bought
@saladforpresident (behind the eponymous Substack , chef at the New Museum this Fall) / Upstate Hand Dyed Komoko Glasses: “I am sending along a receipt for some beautiful glasses I bought from Upstate after doing an event at Kalen's (the owner) studio in Chinatown. I got to use all of her glassware for my food, and it was such a delight. I love her glasses because they are thick and wonky, and break all of the rules of technical glasswork. They are also sturdy enough to stand up to use by toddlers, and I try to avoid ugly plastic cups as much as possible. Kalen is producing her glass at Bric Arts in Brooklyn, and as a prop stylist herself, she has a really keen eye for color.”
@elowaz (behind the viral @ladydirevengelooks account, author of The Lady Di Look Book) / Burberry Checked Plaid Mules: “When I bought these online (s/o Cettire) I actually thought they were the most beautiful shoes I’d ever seen… perfect combo of classic Burberry check, gorge spring colors, and a not-too-high heel height. They’re even more dreamy irl—so much so that I haven’t worn them out yet because I’m scared about messing them up!"
(writer & model) / Dolce & Gabbana Shield Sunglasses: “Some girls are shoe addicts. I am an addict for sunglasses. Recently spotted a fabulous woman wearing these D&G shield sunnies poolside so I ordered them for an upcoming summer trip around the Grecian islands. I love how they’re a bit Y2K but have a silhouette updated for today. They’re also totallyyy ridiculous and don’t block out the sun, but I absolutely love a fashion look that’s on-the-nose campy.”
@daniellawilsonk (creative direction @understudy.studio) / Harvard Visitor Access Pass: “I was in Cambridge recently for some personal things, and I had to stay for two months - so while I was there, I figured I might as well make the most of it and do something that feeds into my work. So, I got a library card for Harvard’s Fine Arts Library and spent some time going through the archives and extensive collection of books. I came across a bunch of images that really inspired me—some of which have already influenced recent shoots such as ALAINPAUL and on going personal projects about Guatemala and colonialism as well as my upcoming book Understudy Studies launching this July in Arles. Most of my life I have spent looking at books and going libraries so this one felt like I had just discovered a goldmine, best 50 bucks I ever spent.”
amyfrancombe_ (contributing editor @voguebusiness, deputy editor @basementapproved magazine) / Bling MacBook Case Cover: “I’m always rotating phone cases and one day was like, wait – what about my laptop? As a writer and professional internet sleuth, I practically live on it – arguably more than my phone. But then I realised, I never actually see truly fab laptop cases out and about (as confirmed by the dire market selection when researching later). So I turned to Etsy, my go to for random cunty bits. It was a little splurge [import tax not included on receipt below], especially since I usually lowball vintage on Vinted, but I'm obsessed. I get complimented on it every single time I use it, and I love compliments <3”
See you on the Selleb app (!!!!!!),
Selleb Sisters xoxo
