All the spotlight on them :) It’s been so much fun getting to know our Substack readers through the app, so don’t hesitate to join the movement <3 <3 Look fwd to seeing you there!!! Xx
If you guys have been following along on our IG, you’ll know we’ve been running street interviews with some of our Sellebs — the latest here with Bart of Cabmate:
The one thing we’ve appreciated from all of our Paris-based users (as you will also see below) is the die-hard Vinted culture.
touches on this here. We’ve seen some of our users post insane designer/vintage deals from Vinted (i.e., the destination for every stylish European to offload their “junk” end of season at criminally low prices) that simply cannot be rivaled on any other resale platform (yes including eBay), which has us thinking…is there any way for those of us stateside to partake in the fun??? Bc the kicker is that you must have an EU number to use the service, so if anyone else has ideas, we’re here. With that,
What You Actually Bought
@quincyamorgan (creator and socialite) / Arhaus Pearson Storage Bed: “I bought this bed on a mega Memorial Day sale because my couch from Arhaus is 10 years old and still fan-freaking-tastic. So I went back for another major piece. So I bought this bed. I am attempting a Nancy meyers style bedroom currently.”
(behind ) / August Crew Neck (similar here and here): “I have a thing for vintage men’s sweatshirts. Specifically, the kind that look like they’ve survived decades of gentle neglect in someone’s dad’s garage. My collection is small but mighty, and recently grew by one (briefly) glorious addition. While watching the final round of the Masters this year—yes, golf, no, I don’t fully understand the rules—I had the sudden urge to see what Augusta-themed gems eBay or Poshmark might cough up. Augusta (GA) holds a weirdly sentimental place in my heart; it was the first city we lived in after moving from Seoul in the 90s, and I still get pangs of nostalgia for the iced sweet tea and abundant pimento cheese. Lo and behold, Poshmark delivered: a dusty teal sweatshirt with just the right amount of wear, vintage-y lettering, and "95" emblazoned on it for fifty bucks. Kismet. A dream. I was fully prepared to emotionally imprint on it forever, until my husband saw it and immediately claimed it as his own. I let him have it (true love or whatever), but not before confirming that the sweatshirt gods are clearly on my side. There’s another one out there. I can feel it.”
@anameizing (creative producer @atmos, head chef @regular_meals) / Uniqlo U Haul: “The last things I did buy were from the latest Uniqlo U collection. I need to preface this by saying that I've purchased at least one thing from every single Uniqlo U collection, ever since its start, so this time it was no different. Something about the pants hit every. single. time. Also, the one question I get the most on my Instagram is "Where are those pants from???", in which my response 95% of the time is Uniqlo. Hate to tell people that these are from 2017 and you'll have to pray and dig deep on Depop if you want a pair. My purchase this year includes these cotton lyocell pants that feel like a summer version of my favourite pants ever by Dries Van Noten, and look equally as good. Call it a dupe if you want? They're also on sale for $19.90?!!?”
@illyse (cinema director @roxycinemanyc) / Gucci Crocodile Embossed Wallet (similar here here and here): “My best friend Larissa White, started an online shopping platform called House Codes. They specialize in vintage luxury goods from designers like Gucci, Chanel, etc. She is always my go to when tracking down a rare gucci purse or wallet that I need for my collection. My favorite purchase of late is this 1996 green crocodile embossed wallet from Gucci, the Tom Ford era. This dark emerald green is my favorite color and apparently green as a wallet is supposed to help you attract financial prosperity, growth, and renewal and is considered very lucky. I feel lucky having scored this mint condition Gucci wallet at a steal.”
@alborodan (creator) / Vinted B&W Brogues (similar here here and here): “I discovered Vinted during the pandemic and as shallow as it might sound, it really changed my outlook on purchases and style. I had always been very close to second hand, but the practicality of finding endless options in usually pristine conditions, in places I could not have access to allowed me to elevate how I dress while keeping the costs low. And I also realized that it has changed my point of view as a client: I never consider new or fast fashion for any purchases because I am able to find such great pieces or great deals on high end brands - so much that it’s always my go to when I feel like exploring new fashion ideas. This specific time I was looking for black and white loafers and realized that brogues (which I had not considered before) could respond to my wishes and bring as unexpected turn to my look. And all of that by spending only 10 euros!"
