What I Actually Bought #128
2026 Selleb Substack Schedule, the perfect white tee is (only) $38, and food editor anoints the best soup in NYC
HNY!!! A little bit of housekeeping from yours truly. So we are going whole hog into the new year with an updated schedule to bring you 1) high-quality content and 2) frequency. As always, most of our content will have a substantial free preview but in order to make the dollar go far for our loyal paid subs, the golden nuggets will be hiding below the paywall.
After many huddles (!) and late-night brainstorming sessions (!!), we present you: NEW & IMPROVED SCHEDULE FOR 2026!! This schedule will take effect starting next week.
Selleb’s Weekly Specials 2026
Monday = ReceiptGate: Q & A with the coolest ppl around the world continues through 2026! The secret sauce to their je ne sais quoi revealed…
Tuesday = What your [insert niche item] says about you: A VERY opinionated social commentary on “niche” items. We’re dialing up the spice this year. Going back to our roots bc this series is originally what we became known for in TikTokland and the people still seem to love it! Bringing this same energy to Substack but will be going even deeper on the (psycho)analyses so the message honors the medium :)
Wednesday = What I Actually Bought: Same idea, different format.
Thursday = Sales Report: You guys really loved the shopping/sales section of our main weekly edition last year. Turning it into its own series with MORE sales links, photos, and resale shopping tips. BEST deals only, curated by yours truly ofc.
(Weekly/biweekly) Friday = Selleb Mom Dispatch: So rogue we know, but handing the mic over to our mom for her hot takes. She’s sneaky funny (and low-key iconic) but always hiding behind the scenes lol, which is exactly why we’re forcing her into the spotlight. Look out for her unfiltered takes on skincare, style, relationships, books, and more because hey, mothers know best…
Weekends: SPECIAL editions. Think food/bars/city guides, op-eds, data reports, and the list goes on…You never know what you’re gonna get ;) (However….if there’s anything y’all specifically want to see, pls give us a holler!! The feedback box is OPEN! Just hit reply.)
What We Actually Did

Left-to right, top-to-bottom: Eat your skincare!, this is the best pizza we’ve had in Chicago, ringing in the New Year Korean style, the Korean rendition of cacio e pepe (hint: dduk) at Perilla Steakhouse in Chicago, Birley Bakery upstairs space is lit but pastries are not it, seeing double, talking story at Overstory, back in the jungle, Julien croissant has great construction but too much butter.
And now, the main event: what some of the coolest people on the internet are actually buying…
What You Actually Bought
@julia_ransom (interior designer, co-founder of Ransom and Dunn) / YSL Babylone Breteuil Slingbacks: “the most perfect pair of slingbacks by Saint Laurent in a gorgeous brownish Bordeaux, which is weirdly a great neutral I’m looking forward to pairing with grey.”

@palakshuregupta (fashion model, launching Homa Aryuveda soon) / Everlane Box Cut Tee: “When the stylist sent over the mood board, she basically said,“ Hi, you need a white tee. Non-negotiable.” Small issue: I… don’t own a white tee. Not even one. Yes, I know. Shocking. So I went on a full TikTok expedition- reviews, hauls, best basics. Then I took myself to SoHo and hit 10 different stores. And finally-FINALLY- found the tee. The one you’re seeing right now. Boxy, clean, perfectly cut. Worth every step of the pilgrimage. It’s the best white tee on the market for the price, and I will defend that statement with my life.”

@dlugoleckiii (partner @ Lobster Club, behind joy arbitrage, adviser @ Silver Art Projects) / embossing label maker: “it’s like a bedazzler for adults. label makers—you might need one in your life. adds fun & personality to anything. also very handy for anyone who routinely loses their shit. get the manual one that embosses.”

@lucynashsimon (special projects editor @ Food + Wine) / Tom Yum Koong soup from Thai Villa: “You so didn’t ask for this! But in lieu of an okay Diet Coke quote, this is one of my top two soups in nyc!! The Tom Yum Koong from Thai Villa in Flatiron. Ordered in the car home from LGA (veteran move). It’s the perfect combo of sour, spicy, skimpy, and a touch sweet. The quart sized container is certainly worth every cent. I eat half now and save the rest for lunch tomorrow (extra points if I boil some noodles to toss in it, leftover rice works too). Best cure to the post-holiday Sunday scaries!!”

@bellagerard (fashion editor, creator, behind B List) / vintage Etro button down (similar here + here): “Recently, I’ve been really into snagging Etro blouses via TheRealReal. They’re cut to flatter my proportions perfectly. I’ve all but stopped buying button-up shirts elsewhere. And they always have the most exciting colors and patterns!”
